The Weekly PowerUp

your tabs are destroying your flow

Hey Reader,

“The system’s not working.”

Leslie texted me on a Sunday.

I pulled up her screen share. Ninety tabs open. Ninety.

I said, “Hey — you might want to close some of those.”

She said, “That’s just how my brain works.”

Two weeks later, same call. Same tabs. Still slow.

I stopped being gentle.

“Leslie. Close the tabs. Trust me.”

Fifteen tabs closed. System started to work.

Here’s what that taught me:

Your software isn’t broken. It’s oversubscribed.

So are you.

Every open tab is an open loop.

An unfinished thought.

A decision you haven’t made yet.

Your brain — just like your browser — runs slower when it’s trying to hold everything at once.

The fix isn’t a better tool. It’s fewer tabs.

So here’s the question:

What are your open tabs right now?

Not browser tabs. The real ones.

  • The projects you said yes to but haven’t started.
  • The conversations you’re avoiding.
  • The decisions sitting in a pile marked “later.”

Can you close two? Can you close ten? Can you burn it all down and start from scratch?

Sometimes that’s exactly what your business needs — not more capacity, but less clutter.

I have four literal tabs open right now.

How many do you have open?
